Sports betting and gambling boosted FDJ's revenue in the first nine months

French national lottery operator FDJ said that its sports betting and gambling business led to a 3.9% increase in revenue to €1.88 billion for the first nine months of 2023.

Most of FDJ's revenue still came from the lottery, although it was down 1.2% year-on-year. This was due to a reduction in the EuroMillions big jackpots and the relaunch of the Amigo draw. However, excluding EuroMillions and Amigo, revenue increased by 3.0%, and betting on lotteries and draws also increased. Sports and gambling betting revenue rose 9.3% to €360 million.

Digital betting also increased by 10.6% to €2.01 billion, reflecting the growth of online players. In total, gross revenue amounted to €4.81 billion, with a portion of funds paid in taxes amounting to €3.04 billion, resulting in total revenue of €1.88 billion.
