A legal action has been initiated by five individuals globally against the gambling entity Stake, situated on the island of Curacao. Their aim is to recover the funds they lost, alleging that the crypto casino exploited their gaming dependency, pushing them to escalate their wagers.
Lawyer Roelof Bijkerk, presenting proof of the company's culpability, has highlighted various conversations between crypto casino staff and players. A gamer identified as "Fred" repeatedly expressed struggles with gaming addiction and a lack of control over his behavior. Instead of assistance, he was offered a singular bonus, despite losing $34.5 thousand in three months of gaming, subsequently achieving VIP status on the platform.
Stake's spokesperson dismissed the claims made by Bijkerk and the clients as false, attributing them to opportunistic lawyers exploiting a legal loophole in Curacao. The spokesperson stated, "Because we are a successful company, we have had to deal with numerous frivolous and false claims from lawyers who took advantage of a loophole in Curacao law," according to The Sydney Morning Herald.
The headquarters of Stake, one of the world's largest gambling organizations, is situated in Curacao. The operator holds a license for the island jurisdiction, issued by licensee Antillephone.
