StopSpillet, the gambling helpline operated by Danish regulator Spillemyndigheden, has received nearly 3,000 calls since its establishment, with the majority of callers seeking assistance for gambling-related issues.
Of the total calls received, more than half, approximately 1,650, were made by recreational gamblers, while 1,150 calls came from concerned relatives of problem gamblers. Professional gamblers accounted for a smaller portion of the requests, comprising 4% of the total.
The report highlights ongoing efforts by the Gambling Authority to raise awareness about StopSpillet and provide support to those in need through campaigns and the availability of consultants to assist players and their families. It's worth noting that StopSpillet was established as a specialized gambling helpline in 2019.
