The Swedish gambling regulator, Spelinspektionen, has imposed a fine of 300,000 Swedish kronor ($28,345) on Yggdrasil for allegedly providing gaming software to an unlicensed company operating in Sweden. Despite obtaining a software license on March 22, 2023, allowing it to supply gaming software for online gaming in Sweden until June 20, 2028, Yggdrasil found itself under scrutiny.
Following an investigation initiated on January 16, 2024, the regulator found evidence that unlicensed operators were utilizing Yggdrasil's software. This contravened Swedish gambling laws, which prohibit licensees from supplying software to unauthorized operators.
Yggdrasil responded by acknowledging the issue, stating that corrective actions were taken by the end of January. The company attributed the violation to a contractual breach with the retailer. While the regulator noted Yggdrasil's cooperation in resolving the matter, it emphasized that adherence to regulations is expected from all licensees.
