Telegram Collaborates with Malaysian Authorities Against Gambling


Telegram messenger has committed to close cooperation with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to combat fraud and illegal gambling effectively. Pavel Durov, the founder and CEO of the messenger, finalized this agreement during a meeting with Malaysian Minister of Communications Fahmi Fadzil in Dubai.

With approximately 15 million users in Malaysia, Telegram has become a focal point for authorities concerned about the rise in fraud and illegal gambling activities within the platform. The commitments made by Telegram post-negotiation are seen by the Communications and Multimedia Commission as a significant stride in countering criminal activities. The collaboration aims to enhance regulatory measures for user protection, and Durov acknowledged the potential need for new mechanisms and procedures to identify and eliminate risks associated with illegal gambling businesses.
