The International Alliance of Theatre Employees (IATSE) New York Theater Locals has aligned itself with the "No Casinos in Times Square!" campaign, reflecting a widespread concern. IATSE, which includes the Broadway League and several other organizations, opposes the establishment of a casino, arguing that Times Square is not an appropriate location given the availability of alternative projects that would preserve the area's historic and theatrical significance. Many locals concur, asserting that a casino could exacerbate existing issues without delivering substantial economic benefits, such as increased traffic congestion.
Conversely, some stakeholders advocate for the casino's development, viewing it as a critical opportunity for New York's future. The Actors' Equity Association, for instance, has expressed support for the proposed Caesars Palace project, believing it could enhance the area's attractiveness and contribute to long-term economic growth in partnership with local residents. SL Green's executive vice president, Brett Herschenfeld, added that the project has also garnered support from the American Federation of Musicians Local 802.
