Turkish Authorities Block Kick and Twitch

Turkish authorities have blocked the live streaming platform Kick, citing concerns that the site was enticing young individuals to engage in casino gambling, prompting regulatory action. Kick, owned by the gambling company Stake, had previously faced a similar blockage in Greece in 2023 and had been streaming casino games while allowing online casino streaming. The platform commenced operations in Turkey in 2022.

Subsequently, Turkish authorities also restricted access to the Twitch streaming platform, alleging similar concerns related to promoting casino gambling. Twitch, owned by Amazon, has now ceased operations in Turkey.

In 2022, Twitch revised its gambling policies in response to criticism from streamers, including Pokimane, after Sliker admitted to deceiving viewers due to his gambling addiction. However, the Casino section remained accessible on the platform.
