Twin Towns Launches Cashless Gambling Trial in Australia

Twin Towns Services Club, located in Tweed Heads, NSW, has initiated a trial of cashless gambling, marking the first implementation of such technology in Australia. The trial encompasses 596 slot machines, making it the largest testing site in the region, as per analysts' assessments.

David Harris, the NSW Minister for Gaming and Racing, revealed plans for the trial to extend to 27 sites across the state, encompassing approximately 4,000 machines over the next three weeks. Harris emphasized that the trial's data would undergo independent analysis by a gambling commission, with subsequent government decisions informed by the findings.

Highlighting the commitment to mitigating harm and curbing illicit activities in gambling establishments, Harris cited the significance of selecting Tweed Heads as the trial site. Factors such as its regional status, proximity to the Queensland border, and high tourist footfall were key considerations in the decision-making process.
