UK footballers join new anti-gambling campaign

A new initiative has been introduced in the UK aimed at assisting gambling addicts in regaining control of their lives and encouraging potential gamblers to avoid reckless betting. GAMSTOP has partnered with various football clubs to launch the #TakeBackControl2024 campaign, which seeks to raise awareness of the self-exclusion program available to players in the UK.

The process allows individuals to add their names to a stop list, effectively excluding them from all licensed gambling sites in the country at no cost. Several football clubs, including Walsall FC, Bradford City FC, New Saints FC, Bolton Wanderers, and Crewe Alexandra, have enthusiastically supported the campaign to promote safe gambling practices across the UK.

To date, GAMSTOP has aided over half a million individuals in overcoming their gambling issues, with approximately 440,000 residents of the UK having proactively chosen to self-exclude from betting and gambling sites. The launch of the Take Back Control campaign coincides with the rapid growth of the online gaming and betting market in the UK, responding to the increasing demand for safer gambling solutions.
