Ukrainian law enforcement agencies have taken action to combat illegal gambling activities by recommending the blocking of over 2,500 websites hosting online casinos without the necessary licenses.
As of April 2024, authorities are investigating more than 450 criminal offenses related to illegal gambling, with suspicions raised against 21 individuals. Indictments have been filed against 72 individuals, including 68 members of criminal groups facing seven separate charges.
In a legislative move, the Verkhovna Rada recently passed a bill in the first reading aimed at dissolving the Commission for the Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries (CRAIL) and implementing stricter regulations on gambling advertising. These measures reflect Ukraine's efforts to crackdown on unlawful gambling practices and uphold regulatory standards in the industry.
