In the first quarter of 2024, the Commission for the Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries (CRAIL) in Ukraine received a total of 194 applications for gambling licenses. Out of these, 152 licenses were granted, with 138 pertaining to slot machines and three for general gambling services.
Additionally, KRAIL issued nine licenses specifically for conducting card games for monetary stakes. However, two applications were rejected due to insufficient documentation, while one application was declined without explanation.
Earlier in March, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky responded to a petition from a Ukrainian soldier by expressing willingness to consider banning armed forces personnel from engaging in online casino activities. This move aligns with the government's broader efforts to enhance oversight of the online gambling industry in order to safeguard public interests.
