WiseAvant Banned in Sweden for Offering Illegal Skins Betting

The Swedish gambling regulator, Spelinspektionen, has immediately banned WiseAvant OÜ from operating in the Swedish market. This action follows an investigation revealing that WiseAvant was offering lottery-style games with in-game skins on its website. These skins, which originate from various video games, can be sold outside of the games they are part of.

Spelinspektionen found that WiseAvant allowed customers to bet on winning skins, with the risk of losing their money if the bet failed. Since WiseAvant does not hold a license to offer gambling or gambling products in Sweden, the regulator concluded that the company was violating local gambling laws.

Furthermore, the betting games were also promoted on social media platforms, including Twitch, which constitutes another violation of Swedish gambling regulations concerning marketing.
