Last year, EA Sports announced that their long-term partnership with FIFA, the soccer organization, was coming to an end. FIFA requested a doubling of the $150 million license fee in order to continue using their name. In response, EA began to question the value of this license since most players buy the game digitally and don't see the packaging.
The most successful soccer franchise, FIFA, is facing possible competition as FIFA is threatening to release its own game. This causes uncertainty about the future of FIFA and EA could lose licensing rights, forcing the use of regular teams and players like in the Pro Evo game.
