In December 2023, sports enthusiasts in Colorado set a new record by placing bets totaling $716.4 million, surpassing the previous high by over $100 million. This marked a 17% increase compared to November 2023, where bets amounted to $608.5 million, and a substantial rise from December 2022, when bets reached only $518.1 million.
The majority of the wagers, approximately $712 million, were placed online, with a minimal $4.5 million spent at retail outlets. Bookmakers experienced a significant surge in betting turnover, showing a 41.6% increase from the previous month, reaching $40.5 million.
