In Denmark, gambling expenditure soared to €78.69 million in February, marking an 18.3% increase compared to the same period last year and a 7% rise from January, as reported by the Danish regulator, Spillemyndigheden.
The gross gambling revenue for February amounted to DKK 587 million, with online casinos contributing significantly, accounting for 47% of the total (DKK 278 million) and registering a 19% year-on-year growth. Slot machines proved to be the most lucrative segment, generating 77% of the revenue, followed by roulette and blackjack at 7%, and bingo at 3%.
Meanwhile, sports betting saw a substantial uptick, reaching DKK 178 million, a notable 33% increase. The majority of sports bets, 70%, were placed via mobile devices, followed by 14% on desktops and 16% at land-based bookmakers. Interestingly, Saturday emerged as the preferred day for betting activities, while Thursday saw the highest traffic for online casino gaming.
