Indiana Sets Record Betting Revenue in January

Indiana achieved a record-breaking betting revenue of $53.5 million in January, surpassing the previous record of $50.6 million set in December. The total sports bets placed amounted to $480.3 million, marking a 4.5% decrease from the previous month when bettors wagered $503.1 million.

Ameristar Casino, along with its DraftKings sportsbook, emerged as the revenue leader, generating $181.4 million, contributing to a total annual revenue of $18.7 million. In comparison, competitor bookmaker FanDuel garnered $23.3 million in revenue, even though bettors utilized the operator's services less.

Indiana currently does not have legalized online gambling, but the state Gaming Commission is contemplating its potential authorization. Economists estimate that the sector could generate revenue ranging from $1.9 billion to $2.1 billion over the first three years if approved.
