Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), the Dutch gambling organization, reported that growth in the number of gambling accounts in the Netherlands is stagnant and revenues are growing slower than expected.
Legal online gambling has been growing over the past six months, but this has been at a much slower rate than in previous periods.
The number of gaming accounts has remained almost unchanged. However, gross gaming revenue (BSR, the difference between wagers and prizes paid) increased by 8% from January 2023 to August 2023, a much smaller increase than the previous period from August 2022 to January 2023, when BSR grew by 33%.
According to the fifth monitoring report, an average of 417,000 Dutch people participate in gambling each month and the average amount bet per player is €1,017 (approximately US$1,068) between January and July 2023, equivalent to €170 per month.
