In 2023, Slovakian bettors placed wagers totaling 21.4 billion, as revealed during a press briefing at the offices of the country's Gambling Regulatory Authority. Martin Bohos, the authority's director-general, disclosed that players from Slovakia received winnings amounting to 20.4 billion.
Bohos highlighted that contributions to the national budget saw a year-on-year increase of over 50 million, surpassing 301 million. Of this sum, online betting contributed 93 million, while fixed-odds betting accounted for 80.48 million. Land-based casinos contributed 61.9 million to Slovakia's coffers.
The dominance of the online betting market persists, with 90% of Slovakian bettors preferring digital platforms. In contrast, online bets in lotteries constitute only 14%, indicating a strong preference for traditional brick-and-mortar locations among Slovak residents.
