Indiana's sports betting sector has achieved a remarkable milestone, setting a new record with a revenue of $50.6 million in December. This represents a notable 18.5% increase compared to the same period in 2022, where bookmakers earned $42.7 million. The December 2023 revenue also demonstrated a substantial growth of 64.8% over the preceding month, November of the same year.
The revenue generated in December came close to surpassing Indiana's all-time record, with the last higher figure recorded in the inaugural month after the launch of the legal sports betting market in September 2019.
Basketball remains the predominant sport for betting in Indiana, with analysts attributing this preference to the state's residents' affinity for the legendary team, the Indiana Pacers of the National Basketball Association. Basketball wagers accounted for a significant portion, totaling $133.1 million in the overall revenue for December.
