The former director of the Australian Football League is set to lead Tabcorp

Tabcorp has named Gillon McLachlan, the former CEO of the Australian Football League (AFL), as its incoming CEO. McLachlan is set to assume the role on August 5. He will be taking over from Adam Rytenskield, who stepped down following accusations of using inappropriate language at work. Rytenskield had been at the helm of Tabcorp since May 2022.

Chairman Bruce Akhurst has taken on additional chief executive responsibilities while Tabcorp searches for a replacement. “Jill needs no introduction. He is recognised as one of Australia’s leading CEOs and his agreement to join us is a great vote of confidence for the future of Tabcorp,” said Akhurst.

According to Tabcorp management, McLachlan will help the company move forward, grow and help attract even greater profits. “We are excited about the potential growth opportunities for our betting and media businesses under his leadership,” senior Tabcorp executives said.

McLachlan will assume control at Tabcorp following a tough start to the year. Tabcorp's revenue dropped by 5.1% to A$1.21 billion in the first six months ending on December 31. Betting revenue decreased to $1.12 billion, while gaming services revenue saw a 14.5% decline to $93.0 million.
