World Friendship Games Funding Approved by Federation Council

The Federation Council has given approval for the implementation of the World Friendship Games, with the State Duma also voting in favor of the corresponding legislation in its second and third readings. The newly passed law outlines the procedures for organizing and conducting these international competitions, including provisions for financing.

One significant funding source outlined in the legislation involves targeted contributions from bookmaker companies. As per existing regulations, such contributions must amount to no less than ₽30 million per quarter. These funds will be directed to a designated bank account managed by the organizer of the World Friendship Games, with the account held at a Russian credit institution.

Additionally, the law imposes certain restrictions during the event. These include prohibitions on the retail sale and consumption of alcohol, as well as advertising for bookmakers and beer within stadiums hosting the World Friendship Games. The games are scheduled to take place from September 15 to 29, with Moscow and Yekaterinburg set as the host cities.
