4 Thousand Accounts Blocked in Indonesia Due to Online Gambling

Indonesia's financial authority has taken action to block over 4,000 bank accounts in the past three months due to payments related to online gambling. Diane Ediana Ray, the department's head, confirmed that blocking cards is part of the effort to minimize and restrict the avenues for online gambling transactions through the banking system.

She cautioned that the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications, along with the banks themselves, might block accounts associated with online gambling. Rae emphasized that the Indonesian banking industry is committed to supporting the eradication of online gambling.

Gambling is strictly prohibited in Indonesia, and it is illegal for both locals and foreigners. The country lacks physical casinos, and individuals engaging in online gambling or accessing games for money can face imprisonment for several years.
