Altona RSL gaming club in Australia has been fined $8,160 for a breach that involved a 16-year-old entering the slot machine area and playing the game for ten minutes. Although the incident occurred in September 2022, charges were filed in August 2023 based on a tip from a vigilant member of the public.
The imposed penalty comprises a $4,000 fine along with court costs. The magistrate delivering the sentence noted that had the club's management not pleaded guilty and implemented preventative measures to avoid a recurrence, the punishment would have been more severe.
