The Swedish online gambling trade association (BOS) has voiced criticism against the country's regulator, Spelinspektionen, for its decision not to block the operator Infiniza. The online casino platform continued to offer its games to Swedish players without the necessary license, and BOS is urging the regulator to take stronger action against the company.
In 2023, Swedish authorities were investigating Infiniza's connections to the payment provider Zimpler, advising the company to cease serving unlicensed operators. Despite this, Infiniza merged with another payment service, Finshark, and resumed operations in Sweden, using another unlicensed company, Krofort, to facilitate instant money withdrawals.
The regulator concluded that Infiniza was no longer actively targeting its offerings at the Swedish audience and did not impose penalties. BOS expressed frustration with the lack of administrative measures, considering it a weakness in the current regulatory system.
Gustav Hoffstedt, the general secretary of BOS, criticized the decision, stating that illegal operators will continue to take money from Swedish players until regulatory bodies actively confront them.
