China bans 43 people for life for match-fixing

In China, a total of 43 individuals have received lifetime bans due to their alleged involvement in illegal gambling and match-fixing. According to local reports, this group includes three former players from the Chinese national team and South Korean player Son Jun-ho.

The Chinese Football Association (CFA) has accused Son, who played for Shandong Taishan in the Chinese Super League, of engaging in match-fixing and accepting bribes. Another notable name on the lifetime ban list is former Chinese player Jin Jingdao, who also represented Shandong Taishan.

In total, 128 individuals have been summoned for accountability regarding these issues. The CFA itself is under intense scrutiny, with several senior officials already implicated in corruption cases. Earlier this year, in March, the Chinese government sentenced Chen Xuyuan, the former chairman of the CFA, to life imprisonment for large-scale bribery.

Additionally, in August, a Chinese court sentenced Li Yuyi, the former vice president of the CFA, to 11 years in prison for similar offences.
