The Curacao Gaming Control Board (GCB) has issued the first licenses following the implementation of the region's updated regulatory framework. White Star, a subsidiary of the Rhino Entertainment Group, has been granted permission to launch the CasinoDays online casino in Curacao.
Starting from November 1, 2023, the island's regulatory body initiated license registrations following legislative changes. Permits are now issued in accordance with the updated gambling regulation, allowing only those organizations with a Curacao license to operate within the country. This strategic move is part of the government's plan to mitigate instances of gambling addiction among the island's residents.
Additionally, Curacao aspires to exit the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) gray list, aiming to establish itself as a "major gambling hub" on a legally sound basis. Given the limited number of indigenous gambling companies in Curacao, the industry is predominantly occupied by foreign organizations, including those from Cyprus.
Situated in the Caribbean Sea and governed as a self-governing entity, Curacao is an island owned by the Netherlands.
