Curacao's Finance Minister, Javier Silvania, has given the green light to Rhino Entertainment Group, approving the region's inaugural license despite ongoing discussions regarding the national gambling decree, LOK. The government is currently deliberating on measures to enhance industry standards, including the proposal to issue licenses to operators, which has faced opposition.
Finance Minister Silvania defended the decision to grant the first license, emphasizing that it falls under the existing Offshore Gambling Ordinance 1993 and not the proposed new order (LOK). LOK aims to provide Curacao with direct control over license issuance, enabling closer oversight of gambling establishments.
Amidst these developments, White Star, a Rhino Entertainment Group subsidiary, has received permission to launch the online casino, CasinoDays.
Curacao, an autonomous island in the Caribbean Sea, is a self-governing state within the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
