Dutch MPs Reject Complete Ban on Gambling Advertising

The Dutch House of Representatives has rejected a proposal to implement a complete ban on gambling advertising. The initiative was put forward by Derk Boswijk, a member of the Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA) party, who sought to prohibit all forms of advertising for gambling operators. However, the proposal failed to garner sufficient support from lawmakers, with 70 deputies out of 150 supporting the restriction. To pass, the amendments required approval from at least 76 members of parliament.

In contrast, a project proposed by Mirjam Bikker, leader of the Christian Union party, was approved by the House of Representatives. This project focuses on "comprehensive gaming restrictions" as a consumer protection measure in the online gambling market. Bikker suggested implementing winning limits for all operators, preventing them from offering customers more than specified.
