Dutch Parliament Votes to Prohibit Online Slot Advertising

The Dutch House of Representatives has passed legislation to prohibit advertising for online gambling and high-risk slot machines, marking a significant move to curb targeted marketing efforts in the gambling sector.

Introduced by Michiel van Nispen, a member of the Socialist Party, both proposals garnered substantial support among lawmakers. Additionally, amendments were approved, mandating stringent checks on card games in online casinos and measures to address fake IDs, overseen by the Gambling Authority.

While an earlier proposal in February to completely ban advertising for gambling games and slots failed to secure enough votes, this latest restriction specifically targets online platforms, thus gaining approval from authorities.

According to insights from Casino Nieuws, the House of Representatives deliberated on a total of 114 proposals during the debate, underscoring the breadth of legislative considerations in the gambling arena.
