Georgia Announces Fines for Violators of Gambling Ban

Georgia Announces Fines for Violators of Gambling Ban

Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili, has signed a decree implementing new laws in 2024 related to the gambling and casino industry. Starting July 1st, amendments to the new Administrative Offenses Code will enhance supervision over both online and land-based casinos, with monetary penalties being a significant aspect of the legislation.

Fines for violating the new age restriction laws are set at 10,000 lari (approximately 3,500 euros) for the first offense, and 20,000 lari (about 7,000 euros) for subsequent violations. Additionally, the tax on gambling will be increased from 10% to 15%. This measure has been incorporated into Georgia’s national budget for 2024.

The ban on gambling will apply to all officials and civil servants, individuals with criminal records, and citizens under the age of 25, marking the strictest age control in the region.

As noted, this law has already been covered in our previous reports.
