Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili will increase taxes on the gambling sector.
In his budget address, the head of the Georgian government said that the gambling
sector's revenues has increased from GEL 48 billion to GEL 52 billion ($19.2
billion / £15.5 billion / €17.9 billion). Irakli Garibashvili expressed his surprise at the growing number of Georgian residents actively interested in gambling.
The country's government will raise the rate of gambling profits from 10% to 15%. There will also be changes regarding money withdrawal: players will now pay 5% instead of 2%. According to the Prime Minister, the amendments to tax in the field of betting will bring
additional revenue to the treasury for 400 million GEL (147 million dollars) per year.
More fans of the gambling entertainment sphere are coming into Georgia every day. A package of gambling reform has been approved
at the legislative level, including licensing online casinos and raising the
age of gamblers to 25. Thanks to the innovations, local companies will be able
to develop according to European quality standards and generate additional
revenue. Gambling fans will be able to join the sphere at a more conscientious age.
