In the Netherlands, a 77-year-old grandfather has filed a lawsuit against online casino Bingoal after his 17-year-old grandson lost €162,500 across eighteen different legal platforms in a span of two months. The funds were withdrawn from the grandfather's savings account.
The lawsuit alleges joint and several liability on the part of Bingoal, as it was one of the first platforms where the minor could create an account using a copy of his father's passport. Despite the substantial losses incurred by the underage player, who had recently registered, the casino failed to take any preventive measures.
The grandfather is seeking the recovery of the lost €162.5 thousand and additional compensation. He argues that timely intervention by the casino could have averted the damages.
Approximately a year ago, the teenager lost €17.5 thousand on his first day at Bingoal. At that time, the deposit limit was €30 thousand per week, with an eighteen-hour time restriction every other day. The young player later received an email, almost two weeks later, stating that his gaming limits were excessively high, prompting a request to confirm his income. However, he did not respond, and the restrictions were subsequently lowered over time.
