Slot machine manufacturer IGT has announced the resolution of its legal dispute with Acres Manufacturing. The decision, reached in the US District Court of Nevada, pertained to IGT's patents related to the use of devices for financial transactions in cashless betting systems. Although the specific terms of the settlement were not disclosed, all legal proceedings between the two companies have concluded.
Nick Khin, Chief Operating Officer of IGT Gaming, expressed satisfaction with the mutual agreement reached with Acres, stating that it resolves all disputes between the parties. Khin emphasized that the resolution of the legal dispute enables both companies to focus their collective resources on driving innovation in the dynamic and evolving cashless gaming sector.
The litigation originated in 2021 when IGT challenged Acres Foundation's new casino management system, alleging infringement of four of its patents related to cashless betting. With the legal dispute now resolved, both companies can redirect their efforts toward advancing technological advancements and enhancing the gaming experience for players.
