In Ireland, Santa Claus was banned from advertising casinos

Ireland has released a list of recent advertisements that failed to meet the standards set by the Advertising Standards Authority of Ireland (ASAI), which included figures such as Conor McGregor and Santa Claus on the list of prohibited ads.

We are going to focus on just two videos that we found particularly captivating. The first video features Conor McGregor, the renowned Irish mixed martial artist who previously held titles in both the UFC lightweight and featherweight divisions. Let's begin our analysis with this exciting footage.

The promotional clip received a negative rating from ASAI for its sexualised content. The fact is that McGregor, the ambassador of the Duelbits casino, starred in a beer commercial. The video featured female models wearing crop tops and tight pants. The ladies drank pints of stout and struck dramatic poses.

The complaint registered with ASAI stated that the advertisement contained sexualised content. The committee agreed with the arguments, noting that the ad placed "significant emphasis on the cleavage and buttocks" of the models. ASAI called it "an irresponsible manner of portraying women."

The image of Santa Claus, known as the New Year's wizard, was prohibited from an advertising poster, specifically one depicting him at a casino next to a slot machine. This advertisement was deemed illegal as it could appeal to minors. ASAI upheld 18 complaints, with 16 other ads found to be in violation of advertising regulations.
