Kazakhstan Considers Restricting Gambling for Certain Groups

Mazhilis deputy Elnur Beisenbaev has revealed that Kazakh authorities are in discussions to implement a ban on gambling for specific segments of the population. Beisenbaev disclosed that a bill regarding gambling, lotteries, and lottery activities has been endorsed, outlining restrictions on gambling for government employees and military personnel.

The proposed legislation aims to limit gambling activities for approximately 220,000 individuals across various forms, including bookmakers, casinos, and online platforms. Beisenbaev emphasized that Kazakhstan already prohibits online casino operations for all citizens, with the new amendments potentially imposing criminal liability on online casino organizers. While betting remains permissible, there are plans to impose limitations, particularly in the realm of advertising.

These measures underscore Kazakhstan's efforts to regulate the gambling sector and address concerns regarding its societal impact.
