In the state of Missouri, a judge has ruled in favor of casino workers, approving a compensation amount of $5.5 million in a case related to unpaid wages. This class-action lawsuit was filed in 2023 by casino employees against Penn National Gaming, alleging that the establishment's management unlawfully reduced wages. According to the plaintiffs, these measures were taken to offset the costs of renewing the gaming license in Missouri.
The judge sided with the casino workers, determining that the organization violated Missouri's minimum wage law and the Fair Labor Standards Act. As a result, Penn National Gaming is now obligated to pay several million dollars, with 35% of the total amount allocated for attorneys' fees.
