While sports betting has been legal in Nebraska for over three years, online wagering options have remained out of reach—until now. The General Affairs Committee of the Legislative Assembly has moved forward with Resolution 3CA, which seeks to legalise online gambling and sports betting in the state.
This proposal is set to be placed on the ballot for the upcoming general election, and should it garner sufficient voter support, online betting will become officially recognised. However, state officials need to act swiftly, as the window for passing this legislation is quite limited; if they miss this chance, the next opportunity won’t arise until 2026.
There are compelling reasons to support the law: preliminary estimates suggest that online gambling could generate an additional $32 million in tax revenue for the state.
