The UK Betting and Gaming Council has adopted a new advertising code, which will come into effect in December. The authorities have emphasized a responsible approach to the promotion of online casino services and betting offices.
The focus of the new code of rules is to minimize the impact on individuals aged under 18 and 25 years. The Committee of Advertising Practice, the Broadcasting Committee of Advertising Practice, and the Advertising Standards Authority were involved in drafting the code.
Betting shops, online casinos, and other industry representatives will need to dedicate 20% more of their TV and radio advertising to safe gaming. This commitment has also been extended to digital platforms, as interaction with a younger audience is more likely in digital formats than in traditional forms of advertising.
