The UK Government's Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) has introduced new rules for the land-based gambling sector. These regulations, developed following public consultations on the White Paper proposals held last summer and fall, are set to be presented to Parliament.
Key changes include allowing small casinos to have more than 20 slot machines and permitting sports betting in all establishments. Gaming halls and bingo venues will now follow a 2:1 ratio for category B slot machines to categories C and D, based on the type of device.
In terms of cashless payments, the DCMS will permit direct debit card payments at gaming machines, provided that player protection measures are in place. The authorities have also promised the introduction of convenient account verification methods. Cashless payments will be limited to £100 to enhance player safety.
