Philippines Cracks Down on Illegal Online Gambling, Blacklists Organizers

In a bid to curb illegal online gambling activities, Philippine authorities have intensified efforts, blacklisting over 150 Vietnamese citizens from entering the country in March alone. Reports from the national news agency indicate that a total of about 220 individuals of various nationalities were barred from entry during the month, with 30 Chinese and 14 Indonesians among them, suspected of involvement in organizing illegal gambling operations.

Norman Tansingco, the Bureau of Immigration Commissioner, highlighted that authorities are utilizing available data on past arrests and interceptions to identify potential criminals. He further pointed out that foreigners holding valid work visas but not employed by local companies may be involved in dubious activities or working for fictitious organizations.

Additionally, foreign workers rescued during a recent raid on an offshore gaming operator have been added to the Bureau of Immigration's blacklist, signaling a concerted effort to crack down on illegal gambling operations in the country.
