The State Duma is considering a proposal to permit the advertising of foreign bookmakers, including offshore entities, during the international Friendship Games tournament scheduled for September 15 to 29, 2024, in Moscow and Yekaterinburg.
According to a draft document prepared by State Duma deputies, foreign bookmakers could advertise at the World Friendship Games venues and on television, with certain restrictions. To qualify, bookmakers must be a commercial partner or organizer (IFA) of the competition and adhere to Russian advertising legislation.
Bookmakers, both domestic and offshore, would be allowed to promote their services using logos and symbols during the tournament.
Earlier, the State Duma suggested mandating the Unified Gambling Regulator (ERAI) to allocate a quarter of bookmakers' contributions to finance the World Friendship Games. This transfer is required within 20 days from the end of the quarter, with projections estimating around 6 billion rubles in contributions from bookmakers for the Friendship Games.
