Anatoly Aksakov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market, has expressed support for the proposal to prohibit paying bets with credit cards. Aksakov emphasized that banks should not be allowed to make such decisions independently, as individuals can become financially burdened by playing on credit and losing significant amounts.
Aksakov highlighted the issue of people entering credit bondage, playing with borrowed money, and subsequently facing difficulties repaying those funds. He believes that banks will endorse the suggested ban on paying bets with credit cards.
Furthermore, Aksakov mentioned that the banking industry is not inclined to have individuals accumulate debt that they cannot repay. This move aligns with a similar ban adopted by Australian authorities, prohibiting payments in casinos using credit cards.
