In a proactive move to safeguard the integrity of Sweden's gambling sector, Spelinspektionen, the Swedish gambling regulator, has unveiled two new initiatives targeting match-fixing and illegal gambling operations.
The first initiative focuses on combating match-fixing by facilitating information exchange between sports organizations, operators, and the regulator. This collaborative effort aims to swiftly identify and address suspicious cases through a dedicated platform developed by Spelinspektionen.
The second initiative aims to tackle illegal gambling and money laundering by exploring options to block payment systems utilized by illicit operators. Spelinspektionen, in partnership with the financial regulator Finansinspektionen, will explore mechanisms to disrupt the financial channels supporting illegal gambling activities.
These initiatives underscore Spelinspektionen's commitment to maintaining the integrity of Sweden's gambling industry. By enhancing cooperation and implementing targeted measures, the regulator aims to mitigate the risks posed by match-fixing and illegal gambling operations, thereby fostering a safer and more transparent gambling environment for all stakeholders.
