SportChamps Fined for Invasive Gambling Advertising in Australia

Melbourne-based bookmaker SportChamps has been slapped with a $17.5 thousand fine for enticing individuals to engage in gambling activities. This marks the company's sixth violation under the NSW Betting and Racing Act.

Following an investigation by state regulator Liquor and Gaming NSW, it was revealed that SportChamps had been engaging in illegal advertising on its website and social media platforms. The operator was found to be promoting new games of chance and urging users to log in daily to capitalize on free bet opportunities.

This isn't the first time SportChamps has faced penalties for advertising breaches, with five prior offenses since 2017. Jane Lean, the executive director of regulatory operations at Liquor and Gaming NSW, emphasized that the bookmaker has consistently violated responsible gaming laws, raising concerns that continued infractions could lead to the company's closure.
