Spain's Directorate General of Gambling Regulation (DGOJ) has formed a partnership with the autonomous region of Euskadi in the Basque Country to combat match-fixing in sports. This collaboration allows the regional administration access to a global research service, offering a comprehensive view of the betting market in the country.
Through this partnership, the Basque Government and its Gaming Authority can leverage the capabilities of the regional police to assist the DGOJ in identifying instances of match-fixing.
Previously, the Spanish Footballers' Association (AFE) also joined forces with the national regulator. This agreement empowers the association to utilize analytics in preventing suspicious betting activities ahead of important matches.
