UK Slot Machine Prizes Could See Increase, Says BACTA
The British Entertainment Trade Association (BACTA) is urging the Department for Culture, Media, and Sport to consider raising prize limits on casino slot machines. BACTA has presented an "evidence-based" report advocating for a review of the maximum bet and winnings offered by these machines.
In a letter to the department's Secretary of State, Lucy Fraser, BACTA proposed increasing bet limits on Category C machines, often known as "fruit" slots, from £1 to £1.50, and raising the minimum prize from £100 to £150. For Category B4 devices (multi-game fruit machines), BACTA suggested increasing stakes and prizes from £2 and £400 to £2.50 and £750, respectively.
BACTA emphasized that the proposed increase is below the rate of inflation and should not pose an issue for the UK economy.
