Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has implemented a series of regulatory measures aimed at online casinos, signing a decree to enforce stricter controls. The decree includes provisions such as banning military personnel from accessing online casinos and imposing restrictions on advertising for gaming platforms. Additionally, limits will be placed on both game time and bet amounts.
To curb potential abuse, the decree prohibits individuals from holding multiple accounts and introduces an online monitoring system. Moreover, authorities will actively block access to illegal gaming platforms.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine has been tasked with developing a standard for the treatment of severe gambling addiction within three months. Health workers will receive training to promptly identify signs of addiction. Similarly, the Ministry of Social Policy will establish a standard for providing services for the socio-psychological rehabilitation of gambling addicts and train social workers accordingly.
The National Bank of Ukraine is recommended to take action within two weeks to prohibit the acceptance of dual-use goods as collateral. Within two months, the bank will also issue recommendations to financial institutions, advising them to block payments from citizens’ credit accounts to the accounts of gambling organizers for participation in online casinos.
