Australia issues warning to major streaming platform

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has issued a warning to a streaming service provider for violating regulations concerning gambling advertising.

Current rules prohibit online content providers from displaying gambling ads during live sports broadcasts, including an additional five minutes before and after each event. However, the ACMA's investigation revealed that Network Ten's streaming service, 10 Play, did not adhere to this guideline.

This investigation was prompted by a complaint from a viewer who noted the presence of gambling ads during a Women’s A-League match and an England friendly. The ACMA has confirmed the validity of these claims and has formally warned 10 Play.

Furthermore, the ACMA has indicated that it will take additional enforcement action if the streaming service commits further violations. 10 Play has acknowledged the infraction, attributing it to a "coding process error."
