Conor McGregor is now €1.5 million richer after betting on sports. Or rather, Nate Diaz, who eventually defeated Jorge Masvidala in a boxing match.
McGregor declared before the match that he had wagered 460,000 euros on Diaz winning. He expressed his belief that Masvidal's lack of precise striking and skilled fighting technique would not pose a challenge for Nate in the boxing ring. Despite both fighters' tendencies to engage in theatrics during a fight, McGregor was confident that Nate would emerge victorious.
When the fight ended and Diaz won, McGregor added to his post: “The rich get richer! Good job, Nate, congratulations!”
Earlier, McGregor had casual meetings with Diaz and would frequently allude to a potential third fighter. However, as a fighter's career advances, the obstacles they face tend to stray from a linear path of advancement.
Let us not forget that just one day prior, McGregor found himself at the center of yet another scandal. The renowned former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion was featured in a commercial that was deemed inappropriate by the Irish Advertising Standards Authority. The authorities determined that the video focused too heavily on the models' cleavage and buttocks, portraying women in an irresponsible manner that violated advertising regulations.
