Bridget Simmonds, the current chair of the UK's Betting and Gaming Council (BGC), has announced her decision to step down from her position on April 20.
Simmonds has held the role of BGC chair for five years, starting in 2019. In her statement, she expressed her gratitude for the honor of representing the interests of the 110,000 individuals whose livelihoods depend on the regulated betting and gaming industry.
Following Simmonds' departure, the Board has outlined that the search for a new chair will be facilitated by an external recruitment agency and will commence immediately. BGC CEO Michael Dagher highlighted Simmonds' commitment to elevating the standards of responsible gaming during her tenure.
The Betting and Gaming Council serves as the representative body for all bookmakers, casinos, online gambling, and bingo establishments in the UK, with the exception of the National Lottery.
